How it works

Grocery math,
honestly done.

DishBudget treats your grocery budget like the fixed number it is. Pick your Kroger-family store, plan a few dinners, and every line on your list has a real price from that store's shelf behind it. No averages, no guessing.

Real prices, from the right products.

Each ingredient is matched to your store's live catalog: regular and sale price, stock, and a photo. We make sure the match is the actual ingredient, not something that just shares its name, and price onions and meat by weight instead of rounding up to a whole pound.

Save the staples you keep on hand once. Every recipe and every plan leaves them out, and recipe cards show the lower price. You can still untick anything else you already have on a single recipe.

    Plan

    Plan the week.

Add a few dinners to this week's plan and get one shopping list, sorted by aisle. Shared ingredients are combined, so three recipes that each use a little garlic mean one bulb, not three, and the plan shows what that saves over shopping each recipe separately.

No. 2 · The math

Two numbers. Both honest.

Most recipe sites show a “cost per serving” that assumes you already own a spice cabinet. We don't. Every recipe gives you two clear numbers: what you'll pay at the register, and what the dish itself costs per plate.

Example: Slow Cooker Salsa Chicken, using DishBudget's reference prices. Your store's live prices will differ a little. Plan a few dinners together and the basket shrinks further, because packages you share between recipes are only bought once.

No. 3 · Under the hood

Built to stay honest.

Live pricing

Prices come straight from Kroger's product catalog for your store. Each lookup is kept for 15 minutes, so pages load fast without going stale.

The right product

Before price decides, a match has to actually be the ingredient: the item's name has to appear in the product, and known look-alikes are ruled out.

Store-brand engine

Every ingredient is checked against the store's own brands (Kroger, Simple Truth, Private Selection) for a cheaper version.

Checked recipes

Before a recipe is published, every ingredient must match a real product at our reference stores, and its card price must equal what its ingredients add up to.

Privacy

We never sell your data. Your store choice stays in your browser, and signing in saves only your favorites, pantry, meal plan, and reviews.
